Front Air Spoiler Mod to Eliminate Tire Rub

As you increase tire size, you also increase the odds of getting tire rub on the Front Air Spoiler. It looks like this when stock:

There are two spoilers, one on each side, and each about 10” wide and maybe 3” tall. The bottom and outer edges curl in toward the truck. AFAIK, the curled portion is the only part that rubs with 33” tires.

Here’s what it looked like after lifting the truck and installing the new tires, but before modifying the spoiler:

I first attempted a melt mod of the spoilers. I used a scrap of wood and clamps to flatten the curl. This photo also shows how I attempted to limit damaging the plastic surface:

However, I was not happy with the damage I’d caused:

This photo shows that the melt mod was effective in removing the curl:

…and that was adequate to eliminate the tire rub.

But the marred plastic surface ate at me. So I removed the spoilers. Each is held on with six fasteners (four screws and two nuts, I think). Once removed, I laid out some tape to show where I wanted to remove plastic, then went to town with the Dremel and a plastic cutting wheel. (Note: the flex shaft for the Dremel is a really nice addition!)

    And here’s the result:

I hope this helps anyone considering modding their spoilers.
